Whether we’re training together in person or doing remote coaching, the process is largely the same: goalsetting, programming, putting in the work, and feedback.
First Steps
We start off with a free consultation, either by phone or in person, to find out whether we’re a good fit for each other. Over the course of about a half hour, we’ll cover:
- Your goals
- Your fitness journey so far
- Your relevant health/injury history
- Your desired workout frequency
- Your nutrition, sleep, and overall wellness
- What to expect from our sessions together
Routines Unique to You
From there, provided we’re a good fit, we schedule your first week of training in advance. I’ll need some time to put together your full custom tailored program to suit your specific goals, equipment preferences, workout frequency, etc. Then comes the fun part: execution!
Progression
We’ll be using Hevy to track each workout, every set, down to the last rep. I use it for my own workouts, too! We’ll both be able to review your progress in any lift and you’ll keep all of your data, all of your PR stats, all of your workouts, forever. After each workout, I’ll leverage that data to update your prescribed sets and weights to optimize progressive overload and manage recovery.
Success
It’s imperative that we check in regularly to make sure you’re making steady progress and getting what you need. Quick, honest feedback about how things are going and what can be improved can yield minor tweaks with major results.
As the weeks and months go by, and as you achieve your dreams, it’s only natural that your goals may shift more broadly, or that things might start feeling stale. We will occasionally start back at square one with another goal-setting session, often followed by adapted or even altogether new routines.
